Why flatbed matters

A hook-and-chain or wheel-lift tow leaves two wheels turning on the pavement the whole way. On an all-wheel-drive vehicle that can damage the drivetrain. On a car that has just been wrecked, with a bent control arm or a cracked mount nobody has inspected yet, dragging it down the freeway can turn a repairable vehicle into a total loss. On anything lowered, the approach angle alone will take the front bumper off.

A flatbed picks the whole car up. Nothing rotates, nothing drags, and the damage you arrive with is the damage you left with.
